General Information:
SligStorm was a cancelled title, originally intended to be released alongside existing Oddworld games Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee and Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus in a combination package. The desired platform was the Playstation. The story would have followed an albino slig, born into a world where mutants are murdered. In this sadistic world where compassion equals death, he finds himself alone, and must escape the birthing complex from whence he was born, if he wishes to survive. The game was cancelled in it's early stages and due to this not much information is known about it other than the plot. However, it is know that the game was intended to be created using the A.L.I.V.E engine, that had previously been used to create Oddysee and Exoddus. The game would have been as long as the level Slig Barracks in Abe's Exoddus, and would've featured about two minutes of cinematics to establish the story.
Cancellation:
Oddworld's publishers at the time did not want a game featuring a slig as the main protagonist, fearing they would appear too ugly to casual gamers. By then production had begun on Munch's Oddysee and the company no longer wanted to work with the 2D A.L.I.V.E engine, opting to move their work into the 3D realm. However some elements from SligStorm were intended to be carried into Munch's Exoddus, however this game was also cancelled. Oddworld Inhabitants have stated they have not forgotten about SligStorm, and despite much fan speculation it is unknown as to whether SligStorm will be one of the titles JAW are picking up from Oddworld Inhabitants.It was later announced in a FAQ that they wish to go back and work on cancelled titles like ( SligStorm, Hand of Odd and The Brutal Ballad of Fangus Klot).
